1.Epson Perfection V600 photo Scanner

Color Photo, Image, Film, Negative & Document Scanner

Exceptional quality and versatility for home, office and studio. — The Epson Perfection V600 Photo delivers outstanding quality scans from photos, film, slides and everyday documents. Featuring DIGITAL ICE for both film and prints, one-touch color restoration and Arcsoft Photostudio, this scanner provides a complete photo restoration solution. And, with the included Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, you can easily convert scanned documents into editable text. Use the scanner’s four customizable buttons to instantly scan, copy, scan-to-email and create PDFs. The V600 Photo also features Epson’s exclusive ReadyScan LED technology for increased productivity and energy efficiency. The Epson Perfection V600 Photo — quality and versatility at an affordable price.

If you are looking for an all in one negative/slide/photo scanner look no further. This thing is the bomb! I got rid of all my darkroom equipment years ago along with all my film cameras, but still had a lot of 6×6 and 35mm negatives and Kodachrome slides. I have been converting all these to
digital files. I am enjoying images I haven’t seen literally in decades! It also handles prints of any size up to 8×10. There is a brief learning curve and you need to experiment with all the settings and how to use the included holders. Also, when working with negatives and slides, just like you were working in darkroom, dust is a real PITA at these levels of enlargement. Compressed air and a soft brush are helpful. You get a copy of Photoshop with your purchase too. Only criticism is the “ICE” feature is only useful in certain situations and actually causes distortion and other problems in others. Picture is actual example of V600 scanned 6×6 negative, cropped, corrected and retouched with PS.

  • Scan to Facebook, Google Drive and other cloud services – Epson Document Capture Pro and Easy Photo Scan software included

I bought this scanner mainly to scan all of my childhood printed pictures. I also use it for scanning documents to save a digital copy. I looked at many other photo scanners before buying this one. I settled for this due to the following factors: price, portability and ease of use.

This scanner is a perfect combination of low price, portability and ease of use. I was considering the more expensive scanners but I realized that I don’t such high quality and I did not want to sacrifice the portability aspects. Anything over 2400 dpi will be hard to identify by a human eye. The resolution that this scanner scans is plenty enough for my purposes since I am not a professional. The two that I was considering were: Canon CanoScan 9000F MKII Color Image Scanner and Epson Perfection V600 Color Photo, Image, Film, Negative & Document Scanner. Neither are portable and costs a lot more.

The sleek Epson Perfection V39 makes scanning, restoring and sharing photos easier than ever. Featuring 4800 dpi optical resolution, the V39 delivers high-quality scans—fast. No warm-up time is required. From photos to documents, this versatile performer makes everyday scanning simple. Scan to Facebook, Evernote, Google Drive and other cloud services.

3.Epson Perfection V800 scanner

  • Precise color and detail – get extraordinary scans with 6400 dpi resolution
  • Remarkable tonal range – 4.0 Dmax for smooth gradations & fine shadow detail
  • Exclusive Dual Lens System – selects from 2 lenses for optimum results
  • Operating Systems: Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Mac OS X 10.6.x, 10.7.x, 10.8.x, 10.10.x

Like most people from the 80s/90s I’ve got a big ‘ol box of 35mm negatives, 4×6 prints, and some medium format negatives and I wanted to archive these photos. I tried 10 years ago to do this with an old Canon Scanner, but never got anywhere because it is a slow process. I am, however, thrilled with how this process is going to work with the V800. First, lets set things straight — it DOES take a long time for the scanner to scan at a high resolution. My 35mm negatives are in cut strips of 4 exposures, and 12 exposures takes around 30 minutes to scan at 4800dpi with the ICE scratch/dust removal enabled. However, with the SilverFast software I’m able to load 3 strips of negatives, prescan, and start a batch scan in a couple of minutes. This means I can start a scan, go and do other stuff, and come back to batch up the next strips. Its going to take a long time to get all my photos and negatives scanned, but I’m VERY happy with the quality of the scans using Silverfast. I know if I was more diligent and wiped down the negatives I could get away without the dust removal, but the results I’m getting are more than adequate for my needs.

Use the included LaserSoft Imaging SilverFast SE software to control highlights and shadows, gradations, selective and global color, sharpening, descreening and scaling. Restore faded color photos to their original brilliance with Easy Photo Fix scanning technology from Epson. Scan your photos and renew color with just one click. Easy Photo Fix also includes Backlight Correction and Digital Dust Removal.

We have 7 of these scanners, with one on all of each of the desks for my Team in my law practice, and one at my home office. They cut down on paper considerably, as we scan documents brought in by clients and hand them back to the clients. I use it at home for both two rental businesses and a construction company we run out of the house. All of the businesses formerly generated a mountain of paperwork to organize and file. These scanners save on filing time, which saves money and tedium for my employees, and they save money on file cabinets and floor space. These scanners are very fast and easy to setup and use. You can scan a document faster than you could shred it. The documents scan to pdf and are then easily stored in electronic files (backed up in a dual core hard drive onsite and in cloud storage offsite). They auto scan in duplex and color. The first ones were purchased in November 2013, and are still going strong 3 years later. The two later ones were purchased in January, 2016, and this one in October, 2016.

8.Canon CS5600F

As far as how does the scanner perform, I Love it. I’ve used it to make thousands of images over the nearly 6-yr I’ve had it and it has performed flawlessly. My main use is in making grist for an image ‘mill’ in support of my hobby of Mail Art [see Ficus strangulensis on the International Union of Mail Artists {IUOMA} website].

Recently, however, Photo Paint v9 started using a WIA rather than a TWAIN image acquisition method and it became impossible for me to acquire images at high resolution [greater than 600dpi]. I suspected and still do that this was a result of an ‘upgrade’ to windows-10.

After searching online for solutions and finding nothing that worked to restore my workflow, I called Canon support and SURPRISE they were willing to talk to me and help me with an OLD Canon product. And support was from the usa and the people were willing to spend ~30 minutes with me and we came to a workaround using a program they directed me to download. Since then, I’ve learned that Irfanview is faster for me.

Over several years, I’ve grown to like Canon’s printers having owned about 5 inkjets of which the last two are still running, camera a Rebel Xti and the 5600f scanner. And this most recent interaction has reinforced my impression of Canon as a good company with which to deal.

  • Zero warm up time and lower power consumption with white LED
  • New “auto scan mode” automatically adjusts settings by detecting where you are scanning
  • High-speed letter-size color scanning in approximately 11 seconds
  • File multi-page documents easily with the enhanced ODF feature
